Apologies in advance for the poppy seed in my teeth. Just consider it a humanizing touch! This mural reminded me today that we need to enlist lawyers not just around immediate concerns, but to contest the entire premise of digital ID and smart contracts usurping civil rights – especially of the poor and children. Ella Baker, featured on this mural, is an ancestor whose lead we should follow – grassroots, inclusive, lifting up the voices of the oppressed, collective empowerment. Alison and a small group of friends visited seven significant locations where militarism, religion, public health, and human capital finance markets intersect. We participated in ceremony recognizing histories of resistance and set intentions to begin to restore natural balance and right relations.
