In the chat section of the IEEE Metaverse Congress Session 5 webinar, Yu Yuan reached out to me regarding the content I was offering.
I sent him this email, though I haven’t heard back from him yet.
I prepared a post with my comments from the chat and a rather poor screen recording of much of the fifth session of the IEEE Metaverse Congress, which can be read here.
The screenshot below describes his background. It is from his LinkedIn profile. The featured image for this post was taken from the video of the third session of the IEEE Metaverse Congress and can be viewed here.
Dear Yu Yuan,
I disagree with your ideas about coding a new digital universe, because I know that baked into the structure of it will be plans for bets to be placed on human futures by AI portfolio traders like BlackRock’s Aladdin computer through social impact finance schemes.
I also know that high-level behavioral psychology has been encoded into the “good behavior” nudges that will come with programmable public benefits and digital community currencies. I am coming to see that this is all tied to genetic algorithms and complex adaptive systems theory managed through artificial tokenized economies brought to scale.
No cybernetic emergence or “Game B” for me, thank you.
People like Christopher Ricciardi who helped bring down the global economy in 2008 through Collateralized Debt Obligations are preparing for the next round, which is built on the “Learning Economy” model. As I see it, the goal is for machine consciousness to try to “learn” us in sufficient detail that it can acquire some version of a conglomerate soul. I don’t think that can happen, but I sense that much harm will result from the process.
Preparations are underway for a digitally twinned global labor force where standardized cognitive and “soft skills” will be documented as badges, micro-certs, or Soulbound Tokens. Artificial intelligence can then assign gig work and curate “just-in-time” teams to “solve” all the terrible problems created the industries that are now “investing” in our cognitive capital. This process is being undertaken by the World Bank in coordination with NGOs and think tanks like the Learning Economy Foundation and Brookings Institute. Behemoth investors in human capital “improvement,” like the members of the Impact Management Project, will call this progress and earn social impact payouts under the banner of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, Education. Such payouts will be made based on data dashboards. Impact data will be fed to analytics firms like Ocean Protocol where it can be reused to refine artificial intelligence.
We are training our digital replacements.
This system seeks to harvest our curiosity, children’s curiosity, for inhumane ends.
This is a map of blockchain securitized income sharing agreements. At the time I thought it would be for traditional schooling. Now I see it is really for coding bootcamps to build and secure XR (extended reality).
Learning Economy Foundation’s “Learncard” – note the wireframe Voronoi polyhedron – that’s the digital twin, right? Ready for pressure to be applied to planes of influence.
Stasenko’s short story, “Overvalued,” wasn’t fiction, I guess.
Nor Diamondfinger’s “The Domestic Front.”
JD Bernal called it in 1929. It seems you are following in his footsteps.
I guess in the future AI will write our “stories.”
I don’t think that is a good thing.
In the meantime, they will give us “Commonfare” UBI to gather up our emotions, our struggles, for machine learning datasets.
Maybe that Harmony guy, eh?
Fritz Kunz and Oliver Reiser and Pitirim Sorokin were after this in the post-war cybernetic era; then Ulam’s Montecarlo; and Von Neumann’s automata.
All of this research kept quiet over the decades.
All nations working behind the scenes to refine the track-and-trace tech needed, eyes from space, to keep us trapped in a story that was never ours.
The above items can be found in the Pitirim Sorokin Archives under the search term “Foundation for Integrated Education.”
Some of us know where this is headed, and we do not consent. I believe you know that there is no place for dissenters. Those without a unique ID that can be read from space will be outcast.
In any event, I’ve made my intentions clear. I stand with natural life. Even if it is as you imagine, a simulation.
PS: Love wins.
